Pastor Washington is a lifetime resident of Richmond. His grandfather came to the city over seventy years ago and became the city of Richmond's first African American police officer. During the decades of the 70's, 80's and 90's Pastor Washington's uncle served four terms on the city council. After he moved his church to Richmond from Vallejo in 2008, Pastor Washington began to work in the city around the areas of anti-gun violence, education reform, community engagement and beautification as well as being instrumental in the adoption of the Cease-Fire model in Richmond resulting in continued drops in homicides and violent crimes since 2010. Washington has collaborated with local, state and national governmental representatives to create policy to advance the quality of life for Richmond residents. Pastor Washington has served as a bridge between troubled relation including Law Enforcement & community, community & local government and community & social services.
