Improve our helath care system by making health insurance and prescription drugs more affordable.The United States of America is one of the wealthiest and most advanced countries in the world. However, there are too many people who do not have health insurance and cannot afford it. In addition, the cost of prescription drugs is much too high and way out of comparison with products sold in Canada and Mexico. In fact, many people have been going to Canada and Mexico to purchase their prescriptions where they can get them for a fraction of the cost in the United States. Now there is evidence that people are even going to Mexico for medical treatment. Insurance companies too have realized the savings that can be obtained by sending patients overseas for operative care. When people leave the country to get medical care or to purchase prescription drugs, there is something drastically wrong. The federal government cut back on the money they were giving to states for health care programs. And the state has tried to make up the difference. But that is only to try to maintain the inadequate system we had before the Federal government cut back. Something must be done and I will make it a priority to work hard at getting an affordable health care system and medical insurance program that can be afforded to all Pennsylvanians. |
