Economic Development and Creation of JobsBy Larry RobertsCandidate for State Representative; District 51; Democratic Party | |

Create new industry and expand existing businesses in order to create new family sustaining jobs.It is definitely time to raise the minimum wage. However, the answer to strengthening our economy is creating new jobs through economic development. There are too many families struggling to get by and not being able to make ends meet. In most households both husbands and wives have to work just to pay the bills. In households where there is only one wage earner, he or she often has to take a second job to provide adequate income to get by. Unemployment is at an all time high, and too many Pennsylvanians are without any job. Creating new better paying jobs will come automatically if we are able to grow our economy. Tax breaks for new businesses and for existing businesses wanting to expand, state grants for education and training programs, economic development grants and low interest loans for start up businesses are all methods that can be used to promote economic growth. Governor Rendell has said time and time again that he is committed to growing the economy of Pennsylvania and he has had a number of excellent ideas to which I subscribe. If I am elected I will certainly make economic development and the creation good paying jobs a priority. |
