While employed in the educational field for over 18 years and gaining administrative experience I have worked with K-12 districts, community colleges, and the California State University system. I have built an extensive background of successful experience with school boards, administrators, parents, students, classified and certificated staff, employee associations, state legislators, and the California Department of Education. It has been my privilege to serve and learn as the Classified Personnel Director for the Ojai Unified School District, Assistant to the Superintendent/Public Information Officer for the Beverly Hills Unified School District, and Labor Relations Specialist with the California School Employees Association. I have applied my talents to working with and analyzing school district budgets and state and federal funding, negotiating employee contracts, as well as health and retirement benefits, hiring classified personnel and bringing business partners to local school districts. During my career I have been directly involved with multi-cultural programs, inter/intra district transfers, community relations, disciplinary hearings, arbitrations, and application of the California Education Code. I derive my greatest satisfaction when I am closely involved with students. To that end, I have been a PTA member and a PTA president. I have also served as a delegate to our California State PTA council. I recently participated in a UCLA Alumni Association panel that screened applicants and selected recipients for merit scholarships in the Claremont area. Thanks to Money Magazine, the whole country now knows what we have known all along, that Claremont is one of the best places to live in America. That did not happen by accident; it happened because thoughtful and caring citizens worked hard to make it so. As a member of the Claremont Unified School District Board I'll build on what we have already accomplished and work to meet the educational needs of all our students using the values and attitudes that are the essence and the heart of Claremont. I ask for your vote on November 6th. |
