Political Philosophy for Barbara J. Miller
Candidate for |
After raising three daughters and working as a professional in the public schools for over 18 years, I understand that our children are diverse in abilities and interests. Because of my background and experience: I care about students who are college bound and I want to ensure that they have access to core curriculum with appropriate academic support so that they are fully prepared to achieve their goals. I care about students who are not college bound and I want to ensure that they are presented with numerous options and that a variety of vocational courses are available to them on campus. I care about students who are gifted and talented and I want to ensure that enrichment programs are available to them starting in the elementary grades. I care about students competing in a global job market and I want to ensure that when they graduate they can converse effectively in a foreign language. I care about students who require special education and I want to ensure that their classes are properly funded and that their teachers and aides have the necessary training to meet each student's educational needs. I care about students that are well rounded and I want to ensure that they are offered a variety of electives that include sports, music, art, theatre and dance. Yes, I care very much about every child in our district. And, I will work with our capable and talented faculty, support staff, administrators, board members, parents and students to make this vision a reality. |
