Candidate for
Council Member; City of Port Hueneme

Hello!

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit Smart Voter to learn more about me. I would like your vote for Port Hueneme City Council.

I have been a public servant since I started volunteering at age 14 growing up in Ventura County. I had the dream of becoming a doctor so I started volunteering at local community clinics and by age 16 I was a Certified Nursing Assisitant taking care of elderly people at a convalescent center. I continued volunteer work while studying at Stanford University. Through all of my medical related volunteer work I realized that what I really wanted to do was to work with others to create a better society. I continue to realize that dream today as Mayor Pro Tem of Port Hueneme and also as Associate Executive Director of CAUSE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the living conditions of working families.

The people that inspire me are my parents, family and friends; everyday working people; and leaders like Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez, and Dorothy Day who were inspired and kept trying to live as best they could by love and nonviolence.
