Access, Accountability and Advancement - VOTE MORALES!

Access is first because government is supposed to be by the people and for the people. That is what makes democracy alive, otherwise it is just a word. Port Hueneme will soon have permanently televised and webcast City Council meetings because I made that a priority. Most people cannot make it personally to a Council meeting, but will soon be able to watch or listen at home! Access is also about listening to community residents and finding ways to involve more community residents to make Hueneme an even better place to live, raise children, work, shop and have fun.

Accountability is about keeping the City running well by protecting and strengthening our economic, human, and physical local resources. Hueneme will soon have a new City Manager that will have to keep City government moving. I want to work with the full City Council to make this important transition a smooth one. Accountability is also about economic development (Market Street Landing), affordable housing, public safety and working collaboratively with the Chamber of Commerce, Harbor District and the Navy Base.

Advancement, for me, is focused on family strengthening and violence prevention. We have many young families which are our future. I want to strengthen families through financial literacy and income tax assistance (this also helps our local economy), continuing to support our local library, Boys and Girls Club, Neighborhoods for Learning and other groups like Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. Violence, whether it is domestic violence or gang violence is also a serious concern. I initiated the Domestic Violence Ad Hoc Committee which brought additional resources to our Police Department. I also am working on a task force on the prevention and intervention of gang violence. I supported additional police officers for gang violence.
