Biographical Information

  • Born and raised in Stockton, California; son of Katsuya "Buster" and Mutsuko "Virginia" Takechi

  • Worked on the family farm as a young person. Father "Buster" Takechi farmed in the Delta on Bacon Island raising asparagus, potatoes, onions, and feed corn.

  • Attended local schools and graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy.

  • Past professional employment includes: Plant Controller with Wallace-Moore Computer Services (Lodi); Accounting Supervisor for British Petroleum Chemicals Advanced Aerospace Division; Assistant Manager, then Manager of Subsidized Childcare for Family Resource and Referral Center; and Senior Program Director for the YMCA

  • Currently employed as Fiscal Manager of In Home Support Services Public Authority.

  • Married to Yvonne Wong-Takechi for sixteen years. His daughter Allison Takechi, 13, attends Hamilton Middle School in the Accelerated Learning Academy, and his son Spencer Takechi, 8, attends Kohl Open School.

  • Past chairperson and treasurer for the local Child Care Planning Council

  • Current chairperson of the Kohl School Site Council and president of the Kohl Education Foundation, both of which he has served for 8 years
