Candidate for
Board Member; San Dieguito Union High School District

My father was a career Marine and my mother a Navy nurse, who eventually worked at the hospital in Encinitas. All four of their children were born at Camp Pendleton. I attended Ada Harris Elementary School in Cardiff, Oak Crest Jr. High School and San Dieguito High School, where I met my husband-to-be, George Groth.

After earning an A.A. degree in Radiological Technology from Loma Linda University, I worked as an x-ray tech at Encinitas Hospital. When George finished medical school at UCLA, we married and moved to West Hollywood where he completed his 3 year Internal Medicine residency while I went back to school and graduated from UCLA in 1980 with a B.A. in Anthropology.

George started his practice in Rancho Santa Fe in 1980. Our 2 children, Todd and Megan, went to RSF Elementary School, Earl Warren Middle School and Torrey Pines High School. They both graduated from college this year. Megan from Pomona College with B.A. in Biology and Todd from UCSD with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

I was a RSF School Board Member from 1992-1996. After leading a Middle School Task Force for SDUHSD from 1996-1998, I was elected to the San Dieguito school board in 1998. My "day job" is handling the paperwork and record keeping for George's medical practice.
