Political Philosophy for Barbara Switzer Groth
Candidate for |
Public education is the cornerstone of our democracy. Voters select governing boards made up of their peers - not professional educators - to oversee their public schools. The voters entrust these board members with their children and their tax dollars. Partisan politics does not has a place in this system, and board members who come to the job with a political agenda do a disservice to our children and our taxpayers. School board members should evaluate every decision they make in terms of its impact on student learning. We must make sure that all students have access to a high quality educational program and that educating one child is not done at the expense of another child's education. Above all, we must feel equally responsible for all of our children. |
