Restore City Council CooperationBy Gary CerezoCandidate for Council Member; City of Milpitas | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
To regain the confidence and trust of all Milpitas citizens, a small-town "spirit of cooperation" among City Council members must be brought back to City Hall. The partisan division between the two factions of the Milpitas City Council is evident for all to see. This reflects poorly on our municipal government in and outside of Milpitas. I want change the tenor of the council meetings and bring about a collaborative effort regardless of personal differences so that meaningful work can be accomplished and our community can move forward. Respectful lines of communication between council members and the city have to be restored. In a small city such as Milpitas the governance philosophy envisions the council as a group of dedicated, public spirited citizens who serve on a part time basis and for a relatively short time. I do not believe that this job is meant to be a permanent career. We must return to this simple idea by electing to the council people of good faith that will work harmoniously together solely to do what is the best thing for all the citizens of Milpitas. |
