Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Pleasant Hill

I am a Bay Area native, born and raised in San Francisco. I have lived in Contra Costa County for over 40 years and have been a Pleasant Hill resident for 10 years. I am happily married to Dawn Block. We have two grown sons and two grown daughters. Our daughters, Ashley and Lindsay Allen, attended College Park High School.

I am an Associate Dean Emeritus and Clinical Professor at the University of California School of Optometry. I am a graduate of the University of California School of Optometry where I received my Bachelor of Science, Masters of Optometry, Doctor of Optometry, and Masters of Science degrees. I received a Juris Doctor degree from John F. Kennedy University School of Law.

I am actively involved in the community. I am a Pleasant Hill Councilmember and Former Mayor. I am a member of the Board of Advisors of the MT. Diablo/IDF Pleasant Hill YMCA, a founding member and former chair of the Contra Costa County Managed Care Commission, and vice president of the League of California Cities - East Bay Division.

I am member of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Rodgers Ranch, the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library. I am a supporter of the Pleasant Hill Community Foundation.
