John F. Huber Jr. is a 23 year veteran of the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department having supervised every major division including Patrol, Custody, Investigations, Administration and Coroner.

Huber was recently promoted from Chief of Detectives to Administrative Captain replacing Captain Rick Sealy. As Administrative Captain, he has accelerated the process of recruiting and hiring 14 Deputy Sheriffs to fill long standing vacancies approved and funded by the Board of Supervisors.

Major previous assignments include; Chief of Detectives, supervising 26 detectives and support staff; North Area Patrol Commander, supervising and evaluating Patrol teams and Sergeants; budget development and evaluation; and county-wide critical incident cases such as the Cleveland School shooting.

Huber has worked to improve service to San Joaquin County residents including development of the "Cold Case investigator" position - reactivating unsolved serious crimes. Huber is a recognized expert in this field having served as an instructor for the California Department of Justice "Cold Case Investigations" class.

Huber received his degree in Administration of Justice in 1984 and has received POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Advanced, Management and Supervisory certifications.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Stockton Boys and Girls Club and a volunteer Varsity Football coach at Brookside Christian and Edison High Schools.

John is husband to Janna, and father to three sons; Jeremy, age 17, Matthew, age 16, Andrew, age 8. The Huber family resides in Stockton.
