Questions & Answers

1. What experience and training would you bring to this office?

In addition to being the Assessor for 12 years and a state certified appraiser, I have a deep knowledge of the commercial real estate and multi-family housing market that is based on real world experiences.

I have also been a financial manager on Wall Street and was the founder of a successful Bay Area real estate investment and development firm. I have served 16 years as a council member and Mayor of Sunnyvale during the period the City earned an international reputation for effectiveness and became a model for efforts to reform the federal bureaucracy.

3. Do you think that the budget for this office should be increased or decreased and how should this be done?

Since 1995, I have returned $6.8 million to the county general fund unspent freeing up valuable resources for improved parks, law enfordement, health care and other importants County functions.

In terms of the Assessor's Office only, my top three budget priorities are retaining current staffing levels, technology enhancements and comprehensive and relevant professional and personal development training for all my staff.
