Political Reform

By David Sanchez

Candidate for Supervisor; County of Los Angeles; District 1

This information is provided by the candidate
I run for Democracy and to make L.A. County into a better place to live
Much of my experience establishes some theoretical framework to help America in the area of Political Reform. Sadly to say, that in modernday, there exist too many injustices as many lower income and non traditional candidates are booted out by the media and by the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder. It is an injustice to see that a candidate for supervisor is allowed to adverstise their statement on the sample ballot for 13,000 dollars. Consequently, any one who does not come up with the mony fast, your statement is eliminated from the sample ballot. Is this a form to rig the election. Unknowingly, I have even heard that candidates names have been removed in the past by the printer of the ballots. Second, political consultants will only raise money for traditional status-quo candidates. And third, Newsspapers shy away from non traditional candidates, and always have "negative things to say" about non traditional candidates. Another problem exist on television news stations, where they will only state candidates last names and not their full names on election day results. This is very confusing and ignors new candidates a chance to be recognized. The last time I ran for office for the L.A. City Council last year, the L.A. Times said that there were only two candidates running. The other candidates were ignored. I was ignored. Is this a form of siding the election? Recently, the L.A.Times said good things about the incumbent. And they also said negative things and stated that the other candidates who were running against her were not experienced. Please give me a break! I have more life experience, more writing and speaking experience, more than most traditional candidates, and to say that I have no experience is an improper news source. In fact, I have ten years experience working for government and social agencies, and ten years experience teaching in the classroom. Of course, I was hurt by this statement. Yet, the people suffer more if we continue to elect representatives who have no ideas and only act as facilitators of the government and not as innovators for the people. Unknowingly, "are all elections sided" by big money, unfair election offices that charge too much, or by prejudice and unfair news coverage. Is this democracy or is there any democracy left in America... David Sanchez, your candidate for the L.A. Board of Supervisors in the First District. Remember, your vote in this coming election will determine how many will be laid off by the county, it will determine new jobs or no jobs for many, and it will determine how many people will be killed by chaos in the streets.Vote for David Sanchez for the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors on 6/6/06 to make Los Angeles County into a better place to live.
