Confronting Illegal Immigration

Are terrorists waiting to sneak across our border?

What is it about the word 'illegal' people don't seem to understand?

It's Time to Secure Our Borders Once and For All

1. Increase funding for the Border Patrol to (a) hire more agents; (b) better equip the agents with automatic weapons and protective gear to combat the well-armed drug smugglers; and (c) deploy new technology to catch border-crossers including unmanned surveillance aircraft.

2. Pressure foreign governments to crack down on illegal border-crossers. If diplomatic efforts fail, impose sanctions including blocking wire and other electronic transfers of money from the United States to the non-complying countries.

3. Urge the Governor of California to declare a state of emergency and immediately deploy National Guard resources to back up the Border Patrol.

4. Implement a temporary worker program with tight background checks and biometric screening.

5. Crack down on businesses that hire illegal immigrants. We must hold employers responsible for violating the law.

6. Fix the INS. It should not take 10 years or more for good people to legally immigrate to the United States. Government bureaucracy contributes to the problem of illegal immigration.
