Service to the Community

By David J. Weinsoff

Candidate for Member, Town Council; Town of Fairfax

This information is provided by the candidate
My work in the Fairfax community and as an environmental attorney.
In the nearly 10 years that Idie (a public school teacher) and Jake (a 7th Grader at White Hill Middle School), and I have made our home in Fairfax, I have embraced service to our community. I have served as a Planning Commissioner and member of our Open Space Committee, established and direct the annual Fairfax Documentary Film Festival, and earlier this year was honored by the request that I join the board of Fairfax's Rainbow Kids Program (which operates an after-school program for our children in grades 5-8).

For 20 years, I have practiced environmental law, working in government and with local and statewide nonprofit environmental groups to ensure protection of the California coast, our creeks and streams. I also teach the environmental law class at Dominican University and serve as volunteer environmental legal counsel for the Marin Conservation League.
