A "New Voice" on the Fairfax Town Council

By David J. Weinsoff

Candidate for Member, Town Council; Town of Fairfax

This information is provided by the candidate
We need a new voice on the Town Council that will govern effectively with all other Council members.
It's time for a "New Voice" on the Fairfax Town Council - a new voice that is experienced in local matters and that will govern effectively with all other Council members.

I believe 4 issues demand our immediate attention:

1. Town Finances + We have to prepare and implement a long-term plan for fiscal solvency to ensure that we can provide essential services and pay for them within the limits of our modest financial resources. Money from Measure F gives us a 5-year window in which to have a Town-wide discussion on how we want to pay for our Town government + a very short period of time to plan how Fairfax will identify the revenue to adequately pay for our public safety and Town administration.

2. Disaster Preparedness Planning + We have to coordinate the work of the Fire and Police Departments and our corps of Fairfax volunteers to implement neighborhood public safety plans to protect lives during a wildfire, flood, or earthquake.

3. Protecting the Marin Town and Country Club and the "Wall Property" - I support the zoning limitations imposed on the Marin Town and Country Club property and will require the owner to honor the long-standing concern in the community that any improvements to this historic property (remembering that it is the site of Lord Fairfax's home, "Bird's Nest Glen") comply fully with the existing zoning restrictions. In addition, the 100-acre "Wall Property" on our eastern boundary must be converted to open space for all of the community to enjoy.

4. Positive Town Council Campaigns + The past few Town Council races have been infected with negative campaigning. I feel strongly that negative campaign practices + partisan critical mailings right before election day and derogatory comments by an opposing candidate or supporters at the doorstep + diminish respect for our Council elections. I pledge that my campaign for Town Council will honor California's "Code of Fair Campaign Practices."
