An educator himself, Ken Wagman has taught mathematics for 14 years at Gavilan College in Gilroy. Ken has lived in Santa Cruz for 29 years. He received a B.S. in Mathematics in 1978 and a M.S. in Applied Mathematics in 1990, both from UC Santa Cruz. Before settling into his tenured position at Gavilan College, he taught mathematics as a lecturer at UC Santa Cruz and at Cabrillo College.

Ken's extensive community service in Santa Cruz began 25 years ago and spans many organizations. Ever since his first child entered public school 11 years ago, Ken has

• Volunteered in classrooms
• Participated in PTA (he is now starting his second year as co-chair of the Mission Hill Middle School PTA)
• Chaired the Westlake Elementary School arts committee for 6 years and coordinated the arts fair for 5 years
• Participated in the citywide arts and music taskforce
• Served as an appointed member of the parcel tax oversight committee for the schools

His wife, Branwyn, works at UC Santa Cruz. His daughter attends Santa Cruz High School, and his son goes to Mission Hill Middle School. Both kids have thrived throughout their careers in our public schools.
