A More Responsive City GovernmentBy Wes FlinnCandidate for Council Member; City of Cincinnati | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My plans to make City government more responsive include open office hours, going to the neighborhoods, and creating the office of City Ombudsman.MORE RESPONSIVE CITY GOVERNMENT Since a more responsive government could help solve the other issues, this is my highest priority.
I will lead by example to make City government more responsive, by holding open office hours and traveling to the communities at other times than just elections. I will encourage the Mayor and other members of Council to do the same, as well, as representatives from the Police Division and other City agencies. This sends a message that the elected officials DO care about their constituency.
The City needs to create the office of City Ombudsman, to handle citizen complaints and help everyday people navigate the red-tape inherent in government. This concept has been tried and proven successful in municipal governments, academia, and the private sector. The Ombudsman will place service to the citizens above all other duties. |
