Revitalization of Downtown

Continue to improve our downtown shopping area
During my first term, the City Council embarked on an ambitions program to revitalize downtown.

Our splendid new Transit Center is a major accomplishment and first step toward realizing our goal. The gloomy Main Street Garage that currently spreads from First to Third Avenues will be demolished to make way for a more compact and user-friendly parking structure.

In this process Main Street will be transformed into an attractive brightly-lit pedestrian mall.

I will continue to carefully scrutinize all aspects of this building program.
