Revitalization of DowntownBy Jan EpsteinCandidate for Councilmember; City of San Mateo | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Continue to improve our downtown shopping areaDuring my first term, the City Council embarked on an ambitions program to revitalize downtown. Our splendid new Transit Center is a major accomplishment and first step toward realizing our goal. The gloomy Main Street Garage that currently spreads from First to Third Avenues will be demolished to make way for a more compact and user-friendly parking structure. In this process Main Street will be transformed into an attractive brightly-lit pedestrian mall. I will continue to carefully scrutinize all aspects of this building program. |
