Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Antioch

This information is provided by the candidate

I was born and raised in Antioch. As I have grown, so has Antioch. I went to school in Antioch and graduated in 1987. After two years of junior college, I attended the police academy at Los Medanos college.

I began working as a police officer in 1991. I worked as a patrol officer. My pro-active nature led to a posting as a community policing officer. When I started working on Sycamore Drive the area suffered over 70 police calls on a weekly basis and several of them were violent crimes (shootings, robbery, etc...). I worked with people in the area and we cleaned things up. By the time I left the area it was averaging less then ten calls a week and virtualy no violent crime occurred.

During my tenure with Antioch PD I -

  • Reworked the patrol schedule to put more cops on the street.
  • Served as a union board member three terms.
  • Worked on the Chief's Quality Control Committee.
  • Worked as a bike patrol officer.
  • Helped create the Youth Services Fund.
  • Volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

After back surgery I was forced to retire in 1998. Since then I have -

  • Obtained my real estate license.
  • Worked with Prudential Realty.
  • Moved to Bedford & Associates Realty.
  • Completed the coursework to obtain a broker's license.
  • Worked closely with a non-profit company to find homes for cash-poor first-time home buyers.
  • Worked as a part-time desk officer with Concord PD.
  • Worked as a freelance Arts / Entertainent reporter for the Ledger / Dispatch.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my five year old son. I also enjoy working with Antioch's kids. I have -

  • Coached football for Antioch Leisure Services.
  • Coached Delta Youth Soccer.
  • Taught Sunday School.
  • Performed in a youth play "The Hobbit" at the Regional Theater.

Much of my family still lives in Antioch and I hope to continue doing everything I can to improve the quality of life for everyone who calls Antioch home.
