Political Philosophy for Juanita HaugenCandidate for |
Our community wants high quality education for all children. Tackling issues of school growth versus limited funding, maintaining quality programs, and maintaining the ability to attract gifted staff to prepare students is critical and needs to be done with civility and civic responsibility, adults modeling behavior for youth, while providing the community with ways to address concerns. Expectations outlined in the Pleasanton Unified School District's Strategic Plan started in 1997 and continued with the participation of over 300 people. I pledge to support this plan until goals of higher student achievement, better communication and strong lasting partnerships are attained. Quality programs for students to acquire skills necessary to become productive citizens occur when keeping the public in public education. My past experience gives me knowledge and ability to guide this process. Participation on local, county, state and federal education boards, including the 1997 presidency of California School Boards Association, has given me leadership skills to continue to bring tax dollars to Pleasanton Schools. My involvement in many Pleasanton organizations helps bring people together. Even great schools can be better. Treasuring and nurturing children helps all of them reach for the stars.
