Political Philosophy for Marcia Amino

Candidate for
City Council Member; City of Moreno Valley; Councilmanic District 2

My political philosophy is that government is to serve the people. Those elected to office are servants of the people. I also believe that it should never be forgotten that the tax dollars government takes is really our money and should be treated as such.

It is my belief that government should be honest to the people. There should not be attempts to hide facts or distort facts from the people. A government that lies to its people has betrayed what our Country was founded on.

I believe in cause and effect. With more than 63,000 youth in our community I find it troublesome that our city government chooses to ignore establishing partnerships with businesses, community members and creating consistent collaboration with our school districts for the implementation of effective positive youth programs.

Through volunteerism and employment I have worked in law enforcement and know that the job is primarily reactive. We owe it to our residents to be proactive with our youth. Such an attitude would bring about partnershiips with the Urban League, mentoring programs, Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Programs, all forms of sports being supported, culture and arts opportunities in our recreation programs. This is just some of what we could be accomplishing if we chose to make our youth a priority. Crime prevention begins with our young people.

I believe that it is time to abolish the Good Old Boy Network that has existed in our city and has held it back for too many years. What I have referred to in times past as our "shadow government." We need a city government that lets the sun shine in on all of its activities and decision making.
