Candidate for
City Council Member; City of Moreno Valley; Councilmanic District 2

I am a native Oregonian. Have a husband and two wonderful children. I am currently attending classes at California Baptist University where I will be receiving my Bachelor of Science Degree next year. My degree will be in psychology and I plan to enroll in the Master's Program. My ultimate goal is to be a counselor to teenagers.

I have lived in Moreno Valley for more than 10 years and have been on city committees, task forces, been involved in school and children activities.

After the tragedy of October 26, 1997, on Springdale in Hidden Springs, where 2 adults and 1 child and a dog were murdered in a domestic violence occurrence, I went before our city council and asked them to form a task force or commission on the status of women and children. I got only rhetoric, sine then I have established, with the aid of like-minded friends, a nonprofit organization named Moreno Valley Children First. The purpose is to make a positive difference for the children and families in our community. I am only surprised that our city council would not assist in such a worthy effort.

I worked as a volunteer for LAPD-West L.A. in the 1980's for 6 years. I was also an employee at Santa Monica P.D. for 6 years. I received my P.O.S.T. Certificate from Golden West Academy in 1983.

In years past I was a rape crisis counselor, and an active member of Los Angeles Working Women, as well as the Legal Secretaries Association in Los Angeles.

I opposed the implementation of a utility tax in 1990 and 1991. Moreno Valley Taxpayers for Accountability was created during the second utility tax election. I am still Director of MVTA.

I have been attending City Council meetings for 9 years to date. I have found that the more often one attends these meetings and speaks honestly, the less one is listened to by the sitting council which is truly unfortunate for all concerned.

I like to play golf, participate in 5k walks all over Southern California with my family, listening to music, and traveling with my family up to the Northwest.

If I am elected to the 2nd District seat, I will make a positive difference from the status quo which is what we have at this time. Being from the Northwest and living for many years in San Francisco, I believe that one person can make a positive difference, to do less is pointless.
