The major issues within our city remain the same today as they were ten years ago: the Bolsa Chica, Redevelopment, Economic Development, Crime, and increasing fees.

Why hasn't there been any change?

I believe this is because our local leaders are afraid to make a decision. They are more content to form committees and hire outside consultants to "study" the issues. In short, they're afraid to do their job--which is to lead. I'm not afraid to do the job.

I witness our city trying to balance the budget by approving any dubious commercial and residential enterprise regardless of the impacts to those residents adjacent to it. Being business friendly doesn't mean eliminating our standards or compromising our quality of life.

Our leaders seem to have forgotten this and our pot-holed lined streets are just one example of a city that no longer cares.

While our budget grows the services provided to the people continue to decline. We must collectively ask: When will "enough is enough" be enough?

Running for public office generally requires one of two characteristics from an incumbent or a candidate.

First, your ego is so large that you want the spotlight. This is the worst reason to run. Unfortunately, it has created the lot of miserable councils that has represented Huntington Beach for the past 20 years. These reprehensible representatives create the second reason that one runs for public office: You get so mad at the lazy and sloppy egos that you fight back. I belong to that second group.

I see the backslapping, good-old-boy network in Huntington Beach as permeating this current council as much as any in the past. The incumbents are consumed with their own importance and therefore neglect the basic responsibility of government: providing Public Safety and Public Service. Most of the time they are more interested in a "sound bite" than in sound government.

A group of local taxpayers supports my effort to end this system of incompetence. Among them are Save Our Parks, The Bolsa Chica Land Trust, and Huntington Beach Tomorrow. These are the premiere citizens groups in this town and I am pleased to have their support.

To win I also need your support.
