Service on CSD Requires Real World Skills
By Linda L. RamseyCandidate for Director; Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District
This information is provided by the candidate
Review of important issues addressed to date; why board member qualifications are important; what's coming next. For a tiny community, Fallen Leaf Lake is replete with sophisticated citizens who are willing to get down and dirty on a range of complex issues. I am proud of our current CSD board's accomplishments, and hope to help the next president with useful transition information.
During my last term on the CSD I participated in RFPs and contracts for both the store/marina and the Fire Chief position; addressed marina repairs; TRPA mandates; invasive species threats and community center use issues.
There is no substitute for real world experience in government, particularly in contracts, budgeting, personnel issues and resource maintenance. Our board has a solid range of skills and works quickly and efficiently through phone, email and meetings to gather information and resolve issues. Serving on the CSD requires the ability to analyze complex documents, as well as lots of lake time to assess potential problems and consider solutions. I have specific experience in most of the issues addressed, and am fortunate to reside at Fallen Leaf for 4 days each week during 7-8 months of the year.
I hope the 2005-2009 board will enthusiastically embrace lake preservation research and education as a new focus, while maintaining our quality Fire Department and recreational services.
Finally, I think it is important to enforce a high degree of civility in community meetings so that all viewpoints are represented and treated with respect. With fairness, tolerance, and compromise, good public policy will follow.
