Where there is a will, we will find a way. West County more than most other places has creative capacity and financial as well as intellectual capacity that can revive this vital community resource. Fortunately, the Open Our Hospital campaign has produced a very activated community dedicated to one cause.

Because this is such a desirable place to live, we are blessed with many successful business people, who know how to make a business grow and succeed. We have enlisted a few of these people to guide the business of our Hospital.

We must all learn from our failures and prevent recurrence. The new plan has changed the administrative structure and the relationship of the District Board to the operating nonprofit local business Board managing the operation. The loss of the hospital has increased the physician commitment to support the hospital. Marketing and accurate billing are key improvements in the new plan.

Growth is essential to survival. We have new opportunities with Western Health Advantage insurance that is price and benefit competitive with Kaiser so local employers can live up to the motto "Buy Local". We just now have Senior Action Care Network (SCAN) a managed Medicare product that is actually cheaper than Kaiser. We can attract patients who chosen based on cost but would really prefer personal care close to home. Lastly, we must attract new physicians to grow and the new plan is so impressive that I know we can do that.
