I'm the product of the Santa Rosa City Schools system having attended Lawrence Cook Junior High (before it became a middle school) and was a member of the first graduating class at Elsie Allen High School! After which I continued on to Santa Rosa Junior College and then transferred to Sonoma State University. Throughout my years as a student, I was actively engaged in student government allowing me to gain valuable experience early on in the functions of the Santa Rosa City Schools system. I served multiple years on the School Site Councils for both Cook and Elsie Allen. During this time I gained additional experience while serving on the Santa Rosa Teen Council and on the Sonoma County Latino Student Congress. During my time at Santa Rosa Junior College, I continued my student government involvement and gained valuable shared governance experience as I held various elected positions, including Senator to Student Services, Vice-President of Organizations, and finally Executive Vice-President. I'm currently employed as a Lead Eligibility Worker with the Sonoma County Human Services Department where I have worked for nearly 5 years. Outside of work I'm an active member of the Education Task Force of the North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP). I also sit on the NBOP Leadership Council as a representative of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local 1021, which represents over 5000 members in Sonoma County. Of those members, over 2000 are county employees and I represent them on the chapter's Executive Board. |
