Political Philosophy for Karen Lentz
Candidate for |
Our kids should always come first. The District's primary goal is to provide the best education we can to our children. For this we will need proactive financial planning, which is only possible with a complete understanding of our current fiscal status. Only with a solid grasp of District funding can we examine our current curriculum and create strategies for continuous improvement. In speaking with District families, I know that better communication is needed -- both from the School Board and from our schools. Our parents need to know what is going on: whether it is school test scores, achievement rankings, professional development plans for our teachers, or details about new teaching strategies. My specialty is communication: I create websites, do email marketing/outreach, interact with the public through my work as a commissioner and as a community leader. I would be happy to bring these skills to my work as a BESD school board member. I am a strong believer in continuous improvement and achieving goals through strategic partnerships. If elected, I would continue to serve as a Brisbane Parks and Recreation commissioner, and as a Board member of the Brisbane Dance Workshop. I think it is important for a school board member to be as active and in touch with his/her community as possible, and would look forward to creating partnerships between our schools and cities. |
