Karen Lentz for BESD School BoardBy Karen LentzCandidate for Board Member; Brisbane Elementary School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Vision and CommitmentMy daughter, an 8th grader at Lipman Middle School, comes home from school inspired and excited. She says her teachers are "excellent," "couldn't be better", and has thought-provoking and interesting homework. Her enthusiasm for school feels like a gift. I am motivated to support and further enable such excellence in our District. I have visited our district classrooms and have seen students working collaboratively, solving problems, being active and focused within the classroom. I can see elements of Highly Effective Teaching and the Common Core Standards being incorporated into a forward-thinking and effective model. I want very much to support our teachers and principals on this journey by bringing my skills and background to the Trustee role. As a School Board member, I would support the District's commitment to making certain that our teachers have the tools and training to fully realize their goals. It is, above all, about the teacher-student relationship and the growth and inspiration that can come of that bond. |
