Candidate for
Council Member; City of Escondido; District 2

I am Nicole Downey, and I am running for Escondido City Council in District Two. I moved here at the age of four and for the past 30 years have made Escondido my home.

I attended local schools and universities where I earned two Bachelor Degrees one in Criminal Justice and the other in Sociology, both with honors. Currently I work at a firm on Grand Avenue in our historic Downtown.

For the majority of my life I have been very involved and dedicated to the community and several non-profit organizations throughout the city.

I am running for Escondido City Council because Escondido residents expect their leaders to focus on the basics - provide services conducive to a better city, bring people together and find solutions. Creating and promoting the growth and economic strength that will entice new employers to our city and encourage new jobs from existing business. I believe in working together for the better of the community by focusing on community involvement, fair representation, and transparency.

For several years I have watched the direction our City Council has taken and it has not been in the best interest of the residents or small businesses of Escondido. Residents want a government that is open and transparent on all issues.

I am an advocate for green space, parks, arts and music, libraries, safe streets, uniting our community and core services that make the City of Escondido unique.
