Public SafetyBy John J. AguileraCandidate for Council Member; City of Vista | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I am endorsed by both the Deputy Sheriffs Asociation and the Vista Fire Fighters Association because these safety groups know that I have made safety a priority in our city.Vista has spent nearly two thirds of our budget on public safety over the last few years. I believe it is important to keep fire fighting a priority, especially since we have not had a major burn in our city boundaries. I hope we never have a major fire in our city, however, hope is not a plan, so we should prepare our fire fighters with the best training and best tools. Our Sheriff is the best solution for fighting crime. Our Sheriff provide 84 officers and resources that would be very expensive for us to provide on our own. Crime has decreased in our city since the 90's as well as the last 4 years that I have been on Council. I have made it a priority to eliminate grafitti in our city. Although it canot be completely prevented, I have made it a goal to eliminate grafitti within 24 hours. Every little bit counts when it comes to reporting crimes. |
