Candidate for
Board Member; Alum Rock Union Elementary School District

I am a proud graduate of the Alum Rock Union School District, East Side Union High School District and Santa Clara University. I am very proud that both my son and daughter are middle school teachers.

I support our classroom teachers and our parents who strive everyday to assure that our children receive a high quality education, preparing them for high school and college. Now that our school funding issues have slightly improved, we can provide more support to all our schools, including more support for our music and performing arts programs and after-school programs.

I envision having a community center at each middle school, to include classroom space for tutoring our at-risk students, English classes for our parents who want to learn English to improve their lot in life, and for our higher achieving students. It would also include space for our arts and music performances, and for after-school programs for our children and community. It would be a community center that our elementary schools could use, all to the benefit of our neighborhoods and families.

Anyone can complain about public education. I prefer to work hard to continue improving education.
