Brief introduction of Frank Biehl and his experience and valuesBallot Statement of Frank Biehl Occupation: Governing Board Member, East Side Union High School District Age: 63 Education and qualifications: Barbara and I have made our home in the East Side for 24 years where our two sons graduated from Evergreen Valley and Mt. Pleasant High Schools. As a Board member I've been an active, independent voice for reform; visiting schools, listening to parents, teachers and students; working together to provide a quality 21st century education. I support safe schools with high expectations. I advocated making "A-G" college qualifying classes our default curriculum. I believe rigorous core academic classes with sports, music and fine arts enable our students to graduate college and career ready. During my tenure, graduation rates and test scores have increased at all schools. I believe in fiscal responsibility. I've used my business experience to establish an independent Audit Committee, making sure that tax dollars are not wasted. I championed our solar energy project, saving $43 million and refinanced bonds, saving $22 million. Experience: President, ESUHSD Board, Santa Clara County School Boards Association, MetroEd; Chair, Ed Coalition; LWV Education Committee; business owner, Rotarian; BA, San Jose State University Endorsements: Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren; Supervisor Dave Cortese; State Senator Jim Beall; Assemblymember Paul Fong, Councilmembers Kansen Chu, Ash Kalra, Rose Herrera; District Attorney Jeff Rosen; Sheriff Laurie Smith, La Raza Roundtable, http://www.biehlforschools.com |
