Hello Voter, R.C.C.'s recent construction is the result of Measure "C" - a $350 million bond measure which passed in 2004. Which means this money was borrowed on interest! Over the past three years R.C.C.'s budget has been cut by 60% (20% a year). Which means that unless there is a change in the next two years, we will be saying that its budget has been cut by 100% in the last five years. In 2012, 26 full-time jobs were cut to fix a budgetary shortfall of $14.3 million. Additionally, $3 million was cut from the contingency fund, a $2 million loan was taken out, and the repayment of a $1 million loan was deferred. As a former student of R.C.C., I want it to be the best Community College in the world. However, wanting something is not enough -- without action! Therefore, I've chosen to get involved in order to make a positive difference. My experience in sales, teaching, fundraising, running my own business and education (e.g. M.I.D.I certificate; B.A: Theology; M.S.: Management; M.B.A: Marketing; And that I'm currently studying for a doctorate in Educational Leadership equips me for this task. May I have your vote? Truly, Mark L. Ford |
