Candidate for
Council Member; City of Moreno Valley; Council District 2

Hi! I'm Debra Craig. I have lived in Moreno Valley for 23 years, all of it in District 2. I have been a public school teacher for 17 years for Moreno Valley Unified School District. Currently, I am a Transitional Kindergarten Teacher at North Ridge Elementary School.

Unlike many District 2 candidates, I didn't decide to run for City Council because "Richard Stewart finally retired." I made the decision to run because I want to make Moreno Valley the first-rate community I know it has the potential to become.

I am educated about the facts because I have been attending the City Council meetings the last two years, not the last two months like some candidates have done. I know the problems the city is facing and am familiar with the people/staff who work for the citizens.

Because I'm a teacher, I know the importance of communicating with citizens and helping them become informed about what's happening in the city. I will not favor one part of the district over the other and will be accessible to everyone.

Most importantly, I am a candidate who embraces the internet and the world of social media. For 18 months I have written a successful Facebook page that is devoted to our city government, issues, events, and promoting local businesses. This FB page has over 4,000 likes in the short time it's been online. I treat it like a newspaper and update the content daily.
