All electives need to be supported, not just the upper level courses designed to meet UC entrance requirements
Our district is preoccupied with all students meeting "A to G" requirements (the prerequisites for entry to UC and State University schools). This focus assumes that all high school graduates need to enter a four year college immediately following graduation. This completely ignores those students who are well suited to occupations that do not require a college degree. Many students could have great careers in the trades, public service such as fire protection and law enforcement, or other occupations calling for specialized training, but not a four-year degree. These students are not being served well by our district.
