Candidate for
Board Member; Byron Union School District; 4 Year Term

It has been my honor to serve on the Byron Union School District Governing Board for the past eight years. I consider children to be our greatest blessing, deserving of our greatest investment, nurture and education. My husband and I have been married over twenty years and have made our home in Discovery Bay for eighteen. We have a daughter, Melissa, age 15, who grew up in our schools and is now a sophomore at Liberty. I have as well three grown step children and two granddaughters. Our family gatherings are full, loud and lively, and we never forget we are so very blessed!

I am proud of our District, the accomplishments of our dedicated staff, on behalf of all students. Through devastating economic challenges and cuts to education funding, our district families and community worked together to address the crisis and continue to support students.

As a Board Member I've advocated for our schools within and at the Community, County and State levels to increase funding, connect bridges of support, and ensure in all ways possible the safety of our campuses. I served overseeing the successful completion of all Measure C Bond projects. I have attended numerous education sessions and trainings on National Common Core Standards and the Local Control Funding Formula, California's new funding model for public schools, in order to more fully understand, prepare and effectively serve as a Board Trustee, responsible for the direction, curriculum adoption, and budget management of our school district.

Our Board hired a new Superintendent, last year as well as a new CBO and has established a strong Administrative Team with Principals at each of our sites. I ask your support to continue to lend my support to this Team. I ask your support to continue the work I love doing for our district!
