Dear Neighbor,
Kensington faces the pivotal crossroads of legacy and change. With waning public confidence and an uncertain financial future, we can no longer afford to re-litigate battles of the past. Instead, we must carefully choose three candidates with the demonstrated commitment to meet our challenges with the highest level of expertise, service, stewardship and civility.
Priorities if Elected
- Institutionalize a process of transparency that is open, consistent and encourages a new culture of fearless citizen participation;
- Cultivate the requisite consensus for a change in our approach to public financing so tax initiatives are contemplated in lock-step with other funding streams, such as government grants and existing community expertise;
- Ensure KPPCSD follows the path toward a stable fiscal framework by reducing `blue chip' expenditures and increasing reserves + we need a short- and long-term fiscal plan so the district can meet critical public safety and community services needs during unexpected setbacks.
Local and Regional Government Expertise
- Current member of the Kensington Municipal Advisory Council (KMAC) with a 6-year public record of voting on critical development issues;
- Former county public information officer and spokesperson for Alameda County Public Health Department, Marin County Parks Department and Marin County Open Space District;
- Extensive land-use, economic development and public health policy experience in Marin, Solano, Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
More About Me
- Kensington resident since 2000;
- Studied architecture at the University of California at Berkeley and nonprofit administration at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia;
- Member of St. Dominic's Catholic Parish.
It's been a great experience meeting the many neighbors and new friends who call Kensington home. Thank you for your support and this opportunity to serve this wonderful community.
Very truly yours,
Vanessa Cordova
