Candidate for
Council Member; City of El Cerrito

A few years ago, I moved from downtown San Francisco to downtown El Cerrito for its small town feel -- cleaner and safer streets, less traffic, and residents who take pride in their homes, gardens, and community. If elected, I will promote clean, safe streets, community activities, and the revitalization of El Cerrito's commercial corridor.

I support clean, safe streets in El Cerrito. Last fall, I adopted El Cerrito's Theater Block, where I regularly remove litter and graffiti, and groom the planter boxes. Others have taken notice and joined my effort to preserve the Theater Block. On Earth Day, I was among the volunteers who removed 4300 cigarette butts from San Pablo Avenue, more than doubling the prior year's total. As a member of El Cerrito's Crime Prevention Committee, I've helped to address safety concerns on the Ohlone Greenway, and took part in the National Night Out event which promotes safer streets through police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

I support community activities and have volunteered in many El Cerrito community events. I helped create the Haunted House last year at the El Cerrito Community Center, and volunteered for their annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast, Sweethearts Dance, Easter Egg Hunt, and Dynamo Scramble Charitable Golf Tournament.

Finally, I support sustainable development in our commercial corridor so long as it respects our town's suburban identity and responds to our need for new jobs and housing.
