Questions & Answers

1. In this time of high unemployment and budget deficits, what are the most important steps that should be taken to improve our nation’s economy and sustain job creation?

We should do what works everywhere it is tried, free market capitalism. This is not to be confused with the crony capitalism we have today, where the well connected cover their bad business decisions with government bailouts.

30 years ago when Ronald Reagan was President, we had the world's 3rd freest economy, and we were and economic dynamo producing millions of new high paying jobs. Now we are not even in the top ten, and have the weakest recession recovery in out history.

2. What, if any, changes should be made to federal health care policies or programs?

The health care industry should be like the electronics industry. Every year there is some new electronic wonder the makes us go, "Wow!" What will make that happen? The answer is freedom.

What two health care fields are giving better services at ever lower prices? Plastic surgery, and LASIK eye surgery. That's because the free market rules, and government is NOT involved.

I have a 4 point plan to reform our health care industry.

1. Let anyone buy any heath care plan from any insurance company, with no mandates for coverage we don't want and can't afford.

2. Corporations and labor unions get tax write-offs for health care expenses that ordinary Americans don't get. I will change that by giving every American a tax credit for half the cost of a high deductible health care plan, and by letter everyone save $5000 per year tax free for health care expenses.

3. In many states, the entrenched medical providers have gotten control of the regulatory machinery, and are using it to prevent competition and restrict your choices. This should be forbidden.

4. Stop the FDA from stifling innovation. Every year this causes thousands of needless deaths by cutting off access to life saving drugs and services.

3. What are your priorities with respect to our nation’s energy policy?

Cheap plentiful energy makes our way of life possible. New technologies like fracking have opened up vast previously inaccessible reserves. Domestic production is increasing and imports are plummeting, providing a badly needed boost to our sputtering economy.

The federal government has been a major impediment to this, and future progress.
