Questions & Answers

1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?

1) Education 2) Safety 3) Social Welfare 4) Water management 5) Energy efficiencies 6) Transportation 7) Pension deficit management

2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?

1) A centralized system/center of water management 2) Consolidation of the vast number of water districts 3) Development of needed desalinization plants 4) Uniform management solutions for the whole State.

3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?

Sometimes throwing money at a problem does not solve it. Since I think, as a parent, that the responsibility for the kids education starts at home, we need to develop policies with input from both parent and teacher groups AND IMPLEMENT THEM.

4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?

1) Homeowner Associations oversight and enforcement of boards actions by an HOA fee funded board for swift resolutions.

2) Change the state tax code to make rent up to 3K per month tax deductible and eliminate renters credit.

3) Eliminate the $150 fire fee imposed to rural and semi rural areas.

4) Negotiate with out of State Tech, Biotech and Manufacturing companies to move their business to California and my district.
