Rick Roelle is a 40 year resident of Apple Valley with a passion for serving his community.

Rick has deep ties to public service having spent 31 years working for the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department where he has served with distinction in many roles including running undercover operations, managing the Victorville detective division, overseeing inmate services and much more.

Twice elected to the Apple Valley Town Council in 2004 and 2008, Rick received the largest number of votes in both elections and set a town record for most votes received by a Council Member. While elected he served two terms as Mayor and spent 8 years as a member of the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG).

Roelle's background has inspired him to focus on the issues of public safety, job creation and property rights.

He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant and is second in command at the Sheriff's Barstow Station. Having experienced first-hand the rise in local crime due to California's disastrous prison realignment, he will work towards providing long-term solutions to ensure criminals serve their time in prison instead of being released early into our communities. Through this, he brings 31 years of hard-learned experience and expertise to a key issue in Sacramento.

Throughout his 8 years on the Apple Valley Town Council, he worked with local businesses on job-creation issues and sought to streamline government red-tape. Rick's work was key to developing the Apple Valley North Industrial area which has provided numerous jobs and opportunities to community residents.

While working on these issues, he was frustrated by observing duplicative and overbearing regulations coming from Sacramento and if elected to the Assembly, working to restore a common-sense regulatory environment to reduce burdens on small businesses will be a major focus. Roelle is also a strong proponent of private property rights. His time in local government showed him instances of private property seized through eminent domain handed over to well-connected private developers--an unfair practice that he will work to stop if elected.

Roelle has two sons who were born and raised locally, and he has one grandson with another on the way. In his spare time, Rick enjoys water sports, off-road motorcycles, studying US History and showing his 1970 SS Chevelle.
