|
Lynn was born and raised in a small town in Indiana. Lynn's father is a retired dentist, and her mother a retired school teacher. Lynn graduated from high school in the early eighties, and her appreciation for the agricultural industry began at an early age. While in high school, she spent her spare time working for a large animal veterinarian. As her interest in agriculture grew, Lynn attended Purdue University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agri-Business. Upon graduating from college, Lynn accepted a sales and marketing position with an international agricultural seed company and relocated to Iowa. She soon developed a reputation for being a dedicated, results-oriented employee. After a few years Lynn was rewarded with a managerial promotion and relocated to northern California. This promotion started her migration to California and eventually to the central coast. Lynn moved to the central coast after getting married to her husband Pete, nearly twenty years ago, and continued her work in the agricultural industry down here. Several years after her move, Lynn and her husband decided to open a family business and founded Valley Farm Supply, Inc., an agricultural supply company that has provided services to agricultural growers and business owners for the past 15 years. Their business supplies growers located in the counties of San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Diego and Los Angeles. In addition to her business background, Lynn holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Colleges of Law + Santa Barbara/Ventura. As Lynn's career has evolved from employee to business owner, her commitments to both the community and to her family have remained constant. As an active, central coast resident and small business owner, Lynn has developed a keen understanding of both the fiscal and economic issues that have created the current financial situation that plagues both California and the south county today. Lynn has worked with agricultural advocacy groups that have taken an active role in developing approaches and solutions to the water, economic and regulatory problems that hinder our central coast. Lynn has been a part of numerous organizations, and is a dedicated volunteer who supports several local charities and schools. Some of these organizations include the California Cattlemen's Association, the California Farm Bureau, California Women for Agriculture, California Pest Control Advisor's Association, the Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Nipomo Chamber of Commerce, the San Luis Obispo Business and Property Owner's Association, the California Cattlewomen's Association, St. Patrick's Elementary School, the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center, the Dana Adobe, and most recently Old Mission School. She also volunteers at a local veterinary hospital, and the Humane Society. In addition, Lynn works with several other animal rescue and rehabilitation organizations. |
