BRIEF SUMMARY OF COMMUNITY ACCOMPLISHMENT 2000-present, Central California Criminal Justice Committee, chaired for most of last 11 years. We are responsible for encouraging two mayors to hire the OIR, Office of Independent Review. 2007-2013, Introduced mediation program that was accepted by police chief and passed unanimously by city council, 2012. 2005-present, created youth/police handbook for high school students. Currently handbook is being distributed to all who work with youth and high school students and is being very well received. 2002-present, member of Police Chief's Advisory Board. I continue to bring individual's concerns to CAB meetings, I am a voice for the community. 2010-2012, Education Justice Committee, worked with committee to put together fact sheet on FUSD, Fresno Unified School District's dropout rate and other educational issues. Education + MA in Social Science, Women Studies, San Jose State University, San Jose, CA. MA in Social Science, Mexican American Graduate Studies, San Jose State University, San Jose, CA. BA in Sociology, UC Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz, CA. Awards - Outstanding Alumni Community Service Award, 1995, Oakes College, UCSC Strengths - Over 30 years of community advocate experience, helping people to help themselves. A collaborative spirit and focused on `getting the job done' when it comes to working for our community. A commitment to building; safer neighborhoods, restoring and revitalizing older neighborhoods, job development and more vocational training programs for the under and unemployed.
