El Dorado County, CA | June 3, 2014 Election |
Change the way government does businessBy Geraldine "Gerri" GregoCandidate for County Supervisor; County of El Dorado; Supervisorial District 5 | |

Currently it seems as if the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. We need our departments and other agencies to work well with each other. There seems to be a disconnect in our county when it comes to working together. Different departments, offices and staff seem to feel that they are left on their own. If you have kept up with El Dorado County news then you have seen that this philosophy starts at the top and works its way down to line employees. In order to provide good service to our communities we need to have all staff members onboard and empowered to find solutions to roadblocks. Undermining others should should have no role in our local government. County staff cannot perform their jobs under these circumstances, and our citizens are the losers. Currently, trying to get a purchase order through the system can be challenging at best. Questions need to be answered. Such as why do we spend thousands of dollars on fraud prevention but we only bring in a small amount in penalties? The large bonuses for the elected's have been removed, but how many other budget items need to be revised that have been overlooked over the last several years? We need fresh eyes with the ability to question current practices. I am a bridge builder and an innovator. I have the ability to work with competing interests and come up with appropriate solutions to benefit the majority. |
