? 1. What major program or project will be your emphasis during your term of office?

Answer from Joe Sciandra:

Valley Township is a growing and changing community like all great communities. I am a strong proponent of finding ways to connect community members through volunteer opportunities and community connectedness at recreational activities such as "Valley Day", "Day in the Park", "Community Cleanup day", "Easter Egg Hunt", "Children's Holiday Party", and "Community Emergency Preparedness" programs. I believe that we need to work toward getting to know our neighbors, understand and embrace diversity, encourage strong neighborhoods and capitalize on our skills and talents. The basic services provided at the local level are public safety (police, fire and EMS), road/bridge infrastructure and zoning enforcement. We currently provide trash, water and sewer services to township residents. We need to have effective policies, find ways to work smarter, and deliver services in the most cost effective manner possible. Effective ways include partnering, using common sense, continuous improvement and a focus on empowering our staff. These are key ways to keep up with the times. I have repeatedly demonstrated the ability to work together with others to find meaningful and effective solutions. It is important to listen to ideas, approaches and alternatives. We also need to be watchful of opportunity and get things done when timing is right. I bring years of experience working with a team approach to solving complex problems. I look forward to the opportunity to return as a Township Supervisor for Valley Township.
