Full Biography for Jordan Dickson
Candidate for |

|
Jordan was born at Stanford Hospital on June 7, 1990. Moving to Modesto when he was two, Jordan and his family have found a community to call home. In 2008, Jordan graduated from Grace Davis High School in Modesto. While in high school, Jordan worked to not just be involved with his school, but also with the greater Modesto community, serving as a tutor and mentor to first grade students at Salida Elementary School, volunteering to coach at basketball camps, and hosting fundraising events for local charities. Between his junior and senior year, Jordan was given the opportunity to hone his leadership skills at the prestigious Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America's Aspects of Leadership summer institute, hosted for eight weeks at Princeton University. Turning down the possibility to play basketball in college, Jordan went on to attend what he says is the greatest college in the world, Stanford University. While at Stanford, Jordan continued to be involved both on and off campus. He served as President of Stanford's mock trial team, President of Stanford's club basketball organization, a Resident Assistant for ninety-seven college freshmen, a campus tour guide, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and in various leadership positions on Stanford's student government and freshmen orientation committees. Despite committing himself to all of these activities, Jordan still found time to teach in Stanford's Bing Nursery School and tutor elementary school students from East Palo Alto. Jordan graduated from Stanford in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. Jordan turned down the opportunity to teach as part of the Teach for America Corps in order to come back to Modesto and try to make a difference in his home town. He currently works in Brand Marketing at E&J Gallo Winery for Gallo's Premium Business Unit. In all of his free time, Jordan coaches Junior Varsity basketball for Central Valley High School, mentors for the third grade at Wilson Elementary School, assists with Gregori High School's mock trial team, and coaches, through Skype mostly, Stanford's mock trial team. Jordan is the oldest of six siblings--his younger sister Sinclair, 19, works as a paraprofessional for autistic students at Garrison Elementary School, his younger brother Jaron is 16 and attends Central Valley High School, Devin, 5, will be starting kindergarten in the fall, Trevor, 4, will be starting preschool in the fall, and Brooklyn, 2, has recently learned to say "Jordy." His mom works as an adoptions worker for Stanislaus County, and his dad and stepmom both are teachers in Ceres and Patterson school districts, respectively. |
