Political Philosophy for Joshua S. "Josh" Hugg
Candidate for |

|
San Mateo is going through a critical transformation: We are emerging from one of the worst financial crises in our lifetime, our senior population is steadily rising, housing is becoming less affordable for more people, and the signs of climate change are everywhere. These trends will impact our quality of life now and for generations to come. I believe the collaborative environment that San Mateo County has fostered over the last few decades has served us well. However, these new challenges will require an unprecedented degree of cross-sector collaboration and forethought. As a city and a county we will need to better understand how we will establish sustainable processes that allow businesses to grow here, reduce our environmental impact, and afford everyone who lives or works here an opportunity to be healthy and prosper. Underpinning this, however, is the preservation of those key elements that make San Mateo such an exceptional city in which to call home. |
